The University apologizes for sending out welcome emails to prospective students congratulating them on their ‘acceptance’ to Queen’s before an offer of ission was made.

Queen’s Student Wellness Services (SWS) is rolling out a stepped care model to provide students with physical and mental wellness services.

Concurrent Education (ConEd) students blame the Faculty of Education for the student’s inability to secure practicum placements mandated by the programme. They also allege unprofessional behaviour by staff.

The University said the decision was made based on the “current state” of the pandemic, while looking at hospital capacity and the use of masks in most public settings. 

The University will be closed from May 20 to 23 and July 1 to 4 due to an extension in summer holiday weekends.

Queen’s launched a new academic accommodations portal for students and faculty on May 2.

This year is the second time Queen’s has placed in the top 10. Last year, Queen’s ranked fifth place globally, the highest rank of any school in Canada. Western University was the highest-ranked Canadian institution this year, placing third overall.

The University has announced that Mark Green, Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic), will be stepping down from the role on Jul. 1.

The University has announced the extension of on-campus masking requirements until the end of May in an Apr. 14 update to the Queen’s Safe Return to Campus website. 

Confidential student information in the Life Sciences department was disseminated via email on Apr. 7.The information included student GPAs, student names, student numbers, academic plans, and year of study as of Sept. 2021. Student sexes and email addresses were also compromised.

In an email sent to students Jan. 28, Principal Patrick Deane officially confirmed in-person instruction will resume on Feb. 28.

In a press release on April 28, Principal Patrick Deane announced that Queen’s has selected Murray Sinclair to serve as the University’s 15th Chancellor.

Following student criticism this semester, Student Wellness Services (SWS) is launching a Student Advisory Committee to help improve the service.
