The AMS announced the already hired management team on March 6.

Hiring for the 2025-26 AMS senior management team is still underway with six positions—Director of Communications, Secretary of Internal Affairs, Common Ground Head Manager, Tricolour Outlet Head Manager, Commissioner of Clubs, and Social Issues Commissioner (External)—still up for grabs.

A March 6 AMS communications release showed seven jobs unclaimed across the three executive portfolios: President, Vice-President (Operations), and Vice-President (University Affairs). The announcement was updated on March 21, showing an updated six vacancies. Two roles remain unfilled under each of the portfolios.

The Social Issues Commissioner (External), Clubs Commissioner, and Common Ground Head positions remain open for applications until March 30, while others have already closed. Hiring reopened on March 3 and has been operating on a rolling weekly basis, allowing the AMS to continuously assess applicants, conduct interviews, and fill positions efficiently, the AMS said in a statement to The Journal.

The AMS explained while there’s no set date for hiring these positions, the goal is to finalize their senior management team by early to mid-April. In the event of a vacancy, the executive overseeing that portfolio would step in to assist with those roles.

The incoming executive team including incoming-President Jana Amer, Vice-President (Operations) Elena Nurzynski, and Vice-President (University Affairs) Alyssa Perisa shed some light on these open positions and their plans moving forward.

Amer explained having open spots isn’t something unheard of, and they’re working on filling the positions. In 2023, three incoming AMS senior management positions weren’t hired going into April.

“We’re very lucky that we’ve gotten quite a few applicants, and we’ve had a lot of interviews happen for most of those [senior manager] positions. A couple of them didn’t get interest but vacancies aren’t something that’s unusual,” Amer said.

Nurzynski is planning to ensure senior managers receive proper training by their contract start dates.

“I think a lot of it comes down to just having consistent and clear communication with incoming teams as well the current executive [by] just touching base with the current outgoing senior managers to make sure that both parties, the outgoing and incoming, are working collaboratively to ensure that this transition is happening effectively,” she said.

The team has organized hiring events, ed department faculties and clubs, and used social media to inform students about the different roles, their responsibilities, and the opportunities available to them.
